Just four days after we moved into our new home, disaster struck...
After heavy rains, a canal that runs through Fernley broke, flooding more that 400 homes in the area. Rescue helicopters had to save people from their rooftops, and the aftermath looked much like a warzone. But thankfully, we were spared. Canal broke about a mile and a half from our home and the waters ran just below our subdivision. We could not get out of our neighborhood for a couple of days, but other than that we remained unscathed. We felt very fortunate! It gave us an opportunity to do a little service for those who were affected and the community really pulled together. The pictures here are taken just at the end of the street that comes into our subdivision.
